Benidorm approves the payment of the third and last remittance of consumption vouchers worth 102,000 euros

29 January 2024
Benidorm aprueba el pago de la tercera y última remesa de bonos consumo por valor de 102.000 euros

The fourth edition of '#BenidormTeDaMás' has meant an economic injection of 6.2 million euros in local commerce with a municipal investment of 2,132,080 euros

Benidorm City Council has approved the payment of the third and final remittance of vouchers exchanged in the city's establishments within the municipal campaign #BenidormTeDaMás for a total value that amounts to 102,000 euros. Specifically, the Local Government Board (JGL) has moved forward with the proposal to pay the vouchers exchanged on December 31, 2023, the last day of the campaign, which also includes the list of the nearly 330 establishments that have presented invoices corresponding to this day, as well as the amounts that will be paid to each of them, according to the mayor of the city, Toni Pérez.

The approval of these payments is added to the two previous remittances that were previously settled for a value of 748,130 and 1,281,950 euros, respectively. However, the Benidorm City Council completes in this way the payment of all the investment destined for this fourth edition of #BenidormTeDaMás, which has reached a total amount of 2,132,080 euros, of which 647,278 euros have been contributed by the Provincial Council of Alicante and the remaining 1,484,802, paid for with municipal funds, as reported by the first mayor.

Both Toni Pérez and the Councilor for Commerce, Javier Jordá, have reiterated that this campaign to promote shopping in local businesses during Christmas once again broke records for users and vouchers exchanged, as well as an economic injection for our city, with a total impact of the purchases that reached 6,216,049.61 euros on local companies. “For every euro injected by the City Council to finance the discounts, citizens spent two more, so we must talk once again about the great success of the campaign,” stated the mayor.

Likewise, there were 236,095 vouchers downloaded by a total of 47,219 users who joined the campaign, which translates into almost 1,700 more than in the previous edition. Of that number of downloaded vouchers, a total of 213,210 were exchanged, 5,896 more than a year ago, with a percentage increase of 2.84%.

Toni Pérez highlighted that, in addition to talking about record figures in terms of participation, "the City Council has already approved the payment of all the vouchers exchanged in the 493 establishments that have participated in this campaign" and has thanked all of them for their participation in it.

Finally, the first mayor has defended that the approval of this latest remittance "demonstrates once again that the City Council does not leave anyone out", recriminating the "falsehoods expressed in an interested manner" in recent weeks by the socialist group about the alleged lack of funds to meet the expense. “With these lies, they only generated alarms and doubts and that is unforgivable,” lamented the mayor, who insisted that “they must apologize because after having worried people, no citizen was left without being able to enjoy their shopping nor any establishment has been left without charging a single cent,” he added.
