Benidorm aprueba la contratación de equipos de monitorización de la calidad del agua para protocolos de seguridad en la red municipal

The Local Government Board (JGL) has approved the contracting file for the supply and installation of water quality monitoring equipment for safety and hygiene protocols in the municipal drinking water network. A project that is part of the Benidorm DTI + Safe Tourism Sustainability Plan. The same approved proposal entailed the start of the contract award procedure through the ordinary and simplified open file.
The action will consist of six sampling points in different water networks in the municipality. For the award criteria, the technical aspects of the offer are a maximum of 25 points, while the economic proposal will be valued with up to 75 points.

This action is included in the Tourism Sustainability Plan, whose objective is to contribute effectively to the sustainability and recovery of the tourism sector after the crisis caused by COVID-19. “It is a contingency plan whose main purpose is to consolidate Benidorm as a smart, sustainable and safe tourist destination through the implementation of a series of actions like this, which effectively contribute to achieving this objective,” indicated the Councilor for the Water Cycle, José Ramón González de Zárate.

Benidorm DTI + Seguro Plan is made up of 19 actions grouped around four strategic axes. Specifically, this approved action is now part of axis number 4 related to Health and Hygiene Security, with an action aimed at 'Programs, risk management and safety and hygiene protocols'.

To this end, the councillor specified, that "the supply and installation of several sampling and monitoring points in real-time and their integration into the existing network" have been planned.

Thus, according to the project, a battery-powered chlorine, turbidity and Ph analyzer will be installed in the Salt de l'Aigüa network next to the Gabriel Miró school, another in the Conia Madrid network next to the Aitana school and another in the La Cala-Armada Española network next to the stormwater pumping electrical panel. In the same way, a chlorine analyzer with external power will be installed in the Xixo network next to the reclaimed water intake, and a chlorine analyzer with battery in Almafra network. Trinquet in front of the Costa Blanca school and a 2.0 chlorine analyzer and flow chamber for multiparametric measurements with external power in the tank on Pekín Street (vessel 2).

González de Zárate has insisted that Benidorm "is a global benchmark in the use and quality of water as demonstrated by the fact that we are one of the most efficient cities in the world with a use that is around 96%." The councillor explained that with this action “we take another leap in quality when it comes to controlling the quality of the water” and added that “at the entrance to Benidorm we have a formidable water treatment plant that analyzes and cleans the water so that people can drink without problems, now we are going to go further and control aspects such as chlorine, turbidity or pH at various points.”
