The drafting team advances in the project of execution of the building, which is integrated into the green area and has a garden and walkable roof
Benidorm approves and exposes the Séquia Mare youth hostel and interpretation center project to the public
The work, included in EDUSI, is valued at 2.1 million
The Local Government Board (JGL) today approved the basic project of the youth hostel, interpretation center and camping area of the Séquia Mare Park, which will now be exposed to the public for a period of 20 days. This is what the mayor, Toni Pérez, has said today, who recalled that this project "is included in the Sustainable and Integrative Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI), and consequently has municipal financing and European funds."
Toni Pérez has stressed that this project in the Séquia Mare “is one of the two great actions included in the EDUSI designed especially with the young population in mind, expanding the leisure offer at their disposal and creating a meeting point in the that combine Nature, sport and culture, and in which the local heritage is also disseminated after recovering that forgotten section of the Séquia Mare ”.
The mayor has reported that the JAS Arquitectura team, which has been in charge of the design and the basic project approved today, is already working on the execution project, in which all the details on how the building will be executed will be finalized which will house the youth hostel and the interpretation center, and which will be completed with a camping, canoping and multi-adventure area.
According to the proposed solution, the hostel will have 54 places and the building will be divided into two levels integrating into the land. The ground floor, semi-buried, will have 560 square meters; while the first will have 733 meters. The roof, as anticipated, will be landscaped and passable, forming part of the pedestrian paths of the Séquia Mare park.
This building will be located on a 2,626 square meter plot next to the ‘skate’ and the ‘bowl’.
As already underlined during the presentation of the initial project last July, Toni Pérez explained that the designed youth hostel "complies with the Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality Law" and will constitute "one more alternative for staying in Benidorm". The hostel will have rooms for 8 to 20 beds equipped with heating, bathrooms with showers, common dining and recreation areas, a toy library or library, laundry room, washing machine, safe and breakfast or lunch service or, failing that, the use of a kitchen.
For its part, the interpretation center, conceived as a didactic space, will be destined to explain the uses and customs of the Marina Baixa, and in which it also pays tribute to the Séquia Mare as a great work of hydraulic engineering key to promote the development of the populations of the region.
The camping area will fully respect the current trails and terraces; and the multi-adventure and ‘canoping’ areas will be located in the southern part of the park, thus serving as protection for the camping area in front of Comunidad Valenciana avenue.
The implementation of these new services "complements the Parque de la Séquia Mare, conceived as a great green lung for leisure and sports, and also as a space in which to project and value the history and ethnography of Benidorm ”. With this new project "the Séquia Mare is going to become a reference green area, not only at the local level, in which values as inherent to Benidorm as sustainability will be reflected".
The project as a whole has a budget of 2,117,500 euros.
