About 9,000 students start the school year tomorrow in Benidorm
During the summer, measures have been taken in educational centers to improve the facilities, equipping them with CO2 sensors
About 9,000 students of the 2nd cycle of Early Childhood, Primary, Secondary and post-compulsory education in Benidorm will return to the classrooms tomorrow, according to the data provided today by the mayor, Toni Pérez, and which are subject to “last minute registrations or those that may occur throughout the course ”.
The mayor has stressed that "everything is planned so that the start of the course has all the guarantees." A beginning of the course "in which the measures, protocols and contingency plans against Covid are maintained in each of the educational centers", and "for which the City Council has been involved to guarantee not only the health security of the students, but also that Benidorm students have the best, most comfortable and efficient facilities ”.
Toni Pérez recalled that "during the summer, taking advantage of the absence of teaching activity, the City Council has made a series of improvements, by the Centers Maintenance Plan, in different educational centers for the beginning of the course school that starts tomorrow ”.
Specifically, the municipal Technical Services have carried out about 80 masonry, painting, plumbing, electricity and locksmith actions in 11 Nursery and Primary schools, in two nursery schools and at the UNED; "Some works that the centers themselves have requested from us, to which are added those proposed by the City Council itself to improve accessibility to the centers and generate safer school routes".
In addition, "the City Council has invested more than 60,000 euros in five actions in three schools and two municipal nursery schools." The mayor has detailed that the safety pavement of the children's play areas of the Els Tolls school and the Fontanelles nursery school has been renewed; installing new game elements. Height work has also been carried out at the Puig Campana and Gabriel Miró CEIPs, acting on the cornices of both centers. Likewise, throughout this week the repair of the play elements of the Les Caletes nursery school will be completed.
Toni Pérez added that "in addition to updating the facilities of the centers, an effort has also been made by the City Council to provide purifiers in all classrooms and school canteens of Infant and Primary, practically tripling the contribution made by the Department of Education" . In addition, CO2 sensors have also been installed, at the rate of one per cycle and center, and attended to Secondary and post-compulsory education, doubling in each and every one of the centers the amount of purifiers supplied by the Ministry and providing a mobile CO2 sensor for every six classrooms ”.
Likewise, cleaning and disinfection work will be reinforced in the Infant and Primary schools, the municipal nursery schools, the UNED, the Official Language School, the municipal Conservatories of Music and Dance and the Adult Training School.
The mayor has indicated that “the measures to guarantee the health safety of the students also include school transport, ensuring one more course the daily disinfection of the buses that are responsible for the transfer of Infant and Primary students from CEIP Mestre Gaspar López and Gabriel Miró ”. Both in this transport, which depends on the City Council, and in the rest of educational services, all health protocols are applied again.
