670 alumnos de Primaria participan en Benidorm en la XVIII edición de 'Pilota a l’Escola’

The penultimate annual event of Pilota a l'Escola de Primaria program for the 2023-2024 academic year, has brought together 670 boys and girls from the 4th year of Primary Education from Marina Baixa, Marina Alta, l'Alacantí at the Guillermo Amor Sports City. and Baix Vinalopó. The meeting has been organized by the Department of Culture and Sports, the Valencian Pilota Federation and the Department of Sports of  Benidorm City Council.

The Councilor for Sports, Javier Jordà; The person in charge of Education, Maite Moreno, and other members of the local government team, attended the meeting together with the municipal, federation and Ministry technicians and exchanged impressions with the hundreds of students who at that time were playing games and in the Parallel activities.

Jordá has highlighted that there have been "21 centres that have met today in Benidorm" to "value our native sport par excellence", that have played 'raspall' games, and participated in activities "such as workshops or traditional Valencian games.”

The head of Sports also recalled that “the pilota has one of its most important points of reference in the Valencian Community in Benidorm” and that in the city's schools, you can “learn and practice” from the earliest years, “which is complemented – he specified – with facilities such as the 'Vicent Pérez Devesa' Trinquet or the Carrer de Pilota, parallel to our Palau d'Esports l'Illa de Benidorm."

The Pilota a l'Escola program, which celebrates its eighteenth edition this year, aims to promote Valencian pilota among school-age minors. The project has the support of professional pilotaris who tour the schools where they explain their experiences and teach how to play the different varieties of this sport such as 'escala i corda' which is played on ratchets, raspall or galotxa, among others.

The centers participating in the Trobada de Pilota a l'Escola de Benidorm have been: CEIP Cap d'Or of Moraira-Teulada, CEIP Serra d'Aitana of Benidorm, CEIP Ferrández Cruz d'Elx, CEIP Vasco Núñez de Balboa of Benidorm, CEIP Mestre Canaletes of La Perleta – Elx, CEIP Santa Mª Magdalena del Poble Nou de Benitatxell, CEIP José Carlos Aguilera d'Alacant, CEIP Les Rotes d'Altea, CEIP Mirantbò de Callosa d'en Sarrià, CEIP San Francisco de Asís d' Alacant, CEIP Bautista Lledó of Benidorm, CEIP La Marina of La Marina-Elx, CEIP Lo Romero of Sant Joan d'Alacant, CEIP Puig Campana of Finestrat, CEIP Pare Melchor of Benissa, CEIP Mediterrània of Xàbia, CEIP El Murtal of Benidorm, CEIP Sant Roc de Polop, CRA Sella-Orxeta-Relleu de Relleu, Colegio El Planet d'Altea and CEIP Benicadim de Beniarbeig.
