250 yachtsmen take part in the XLIII Nautical Christmas of Benidorm

14 December 2016
250 regatistas participarán en las XLIII Navidades Náuticas de Vela de Benidorm

The tests will take place during two weekends: 17 and 18 of December and 7 and 8 of January

This morning the forty-third edition of the Nautical Sailing Christmas organized by the Yacht Club was presented, with the sponsorship of Benidorm City Council and the collaboration of the Valencia Federation of Sailing. This test is the second oldest of all that are celebrated in Spain. The councilor for Sports, Ana Pellicer, along with the vice-president of the Yacht Club of Benidorm, Francisco Cortés and the delegate of the Section of Sail, Carlos Noriega, have shown the schedule that will be composed of two regattas that will be held during two weekends. The first of them will be this Saturday and Sunday, December 17 and 18, with the dispute of Light Sailing, in which boats 420, Standard Laser, Radial and 4.7 piloted by athletes of the youth and senior categories participate. The second weekend of regattas of this Nautical Christmas will be already in 2017, specifically Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 January, with the competition of Children's Sailing for children between 8 and 13 years. The councillor of Sports, Ana Pellicer has announced that these tests "will be scoring for the preparation of the teams that will represent the Comunitat Valenciana in national competitions."

250 yachtsmen

Ana Pellicer recalled that this "is one of the oldest regattas held in the calendar of all competitions" and that it is expected "an attendance of 250 yachtsmen" from all clubs in the Region of Valencia and Murcia Federations and Madrid. The councilwoman is convinced that this test will offer a "beautiful" image of our city as "it is already traditional at this time" and with the "incomparable setting of the island of Benidorm in the background."
