16 New rest benches for Sant Jaume i Verge del Sofratge cemeteries
The Sant Jaume i Mare de Déu del Sofratge cemeteries in Benidorm feature 16 new steel rest benches, which have been installed within the municipal facilities improvement plan carried out by the Department of Cemeteries directed by Angela Llorca.
The mayor has pointed out that “there are many people who come to the cemetery to care for and remember their lost relatives and friends. Although in the cemetery the distances are not excessively long, sometimes, and especially our elders, they miss a place where they can rest for a while ”.
For this reason, the City Council decided last December to acquire the new ones that are already in service in Sant Jaume. "Made of perforated sheet steel - Angela Llorca has underlined - with gray polyester paint, so that they hold up perfectly outdoors and so we are gradually removing the wooden and wrought iron benches."
Although the need for this new urban furniture is "more evident" in the summer or as the All Saints festival approaches, with its installation the Department of Cemeteries seeks to "facilitate the use of the cemetery throughout the year by the neighbors providing them with more services ”. The benches have been located, preferably in shady places.
