In the children's parade, 'The Neverending Story' won in the group category and 'El camaleón' in individual

The Carnival party recovered all its splendor yesterday in Benidorm with some parades, children, and adults, of great merit, significant participation, and with an enormous desire to have fun and leave behind the years in which it could not be celebrated normally.
Around a thousand people participated last Saturday night in the Benidorm adult parade, organized by the Associació de Penyes Verge del Sofratge and which ran through several streets in the city center to end in the Plaza de Sus Majestades los Reyes de España with a party until dawn. A march was followed by a large crowd of people along the way and ended in the Association's tent, completely packed.

Starting at half past nine at night, 55 groups and six participants in the individual category, starred in a massive parade that filled the route with color, a great job behind making the costumes, and, above all, a great sense of humor. The parade began with the appearance of Queen Mayor Angélica Morenilla and her court of honor and behind them the members of the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals 2023.

The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; the mayor of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; as well as several members of the municipal corporation attended the parade, disguised as Vikings and being in charge of later awarding the prizes to the winners, along with the Queen Mayor, the president of the Festival Committee, Vicente Solaz, the president of l'Associació de Penyes, Ramón Cano and members of the jury.

In the group category, the winner was 'Veneno en la pile, who won the first prize of 1,000 euros, thanks to their staging of some elaborate spiders. The second prize went to 'Vuelan mariposas' with a prize of €750 and the third prize went to 'El mar de Benidorm' who won €500. The rest of the prizes were in the following order: 'Mad Max Apocalypse' (€400), 'Musical Elegance' (€300), 'Tikiscence Warriors' (€150), 'Fantastic Birds' (€100) and ' Spiders and their guardians' (€100).

The winners in the individual category were 'Bye-bye' with a prize of €300, the second place 'Carrusel' endowed with €200, and the third prize went to 'Minies' who won 100 euros.

At the end of the parade, in the tent of l'Associació de Penyes there was a party presented and enlivened by Aitor Belda, from Los 40 and Radio Benidorm, in which as throughout the day, there was also a bar at popular prices. In addition, as a novelty this year, the Associació de Penyes held an 'afternoon' in the same Plaza de SSMM Reyes de España.
Benidorm will say goodbye to Carnival on Tuesday, February 21 with the Burial of the Sardine, which will begin at 9:30 p.m. in the Plaza Mayor.

Children's Carnival.

In the morning, the Children's Carnival took place with the participation of 42 groups and thirty individual costumes, as well as the children's queen Daniela Talavera and her court of honor, who led the parade.

In the group category, the winner was 'The never-ending story', by members of the Sembrant Festa club, which is the fourth consecutive year that it has won first prize, endowed with €300. The second, worth 200 euros, was for 'Recuerdo de Benidorm' and the third was 'ex aequo', with a prize of 100 euros each for 'safari' and 'Alice in Wonderland'.

In the individual category, the winner was the costume 'El camaleón' (€100), the second prize went to 'La Reina de los cuentos (€75), and the third prize went to 'El transformer' (€50).
