Starting next Wednesday, the stalls of clothing, footwear and other non-essential products will return to Benidorm municipal market. The municipal technicians, in collaboration and taking into account the suggestions of the vendors and neighbors, have drawn up a reopening plan that includes the return to the upper area of the food stalls and to the lower the textile. This has been announced this morning by the Councilor for Commerce, Lorenzo Martínez.
The market is an "activity highly demanded by citizens", said the mayor "but always - he has added - keeping the hygienic sanitary measures", taking into account the possible vulnerability of the group that mostly makes use of the products sold in this type of facility and that, since the reopening, receives "an average of 7,000 people" every Wednesday. "An influx - he has specified - very important of people that, as managers, we must guarantee".
Lorenzo Martínez has indicated that the facility will maintain its traditional structure. However, following the guidelines of the decrees for the restrictions lifting, the Municipal Technical Services have had to restructure the space. "We will apply - Martínez informed - a capacity reduction of 50%". This comes to suppose that "in application of the sanitary measures", half of the positions will be planted that will alternate, according to their number, the even ones with the odd ones. Next Wednesday will be the even turn.
With these measures, compliance with all the measures required for this type of activity will be certified "through the Municipal Inspection Services and the local Police." In addition, "security will continue to be guaranteed in the area of Guillermo Amor sports facilities" where school and sports facilities.
The project, which will come into effect on Wednesday, has meant the update of the municipal Covid-19 Emergency Plan. The Department of Commerce will enable in a few days an information space on the municipal website and an email to attend to the queries that neighbors and merchants make.
