Benidorm launches a campaign to encourage shopping at the Municipal Market
Benidorm City Council, through its Department of Commerce, presented the campaign ‘Come to the Market. Get closer to the Market this Friday. The campaign aims to boost sales at the Municipal Market. Councillor Javier Jordá explained that this campaign is part of a series of initiatives his department is undertaking to “highlight the value of this space, the stalls, and the fresh, locally sourced produce offered at all of them,” especially “among younger people who may be less accustomed to shopping in this type of market.”
Among the planned activities, the one taking place next Saturday, March 28, stands out. Jordá explained that on that day, “an event open to everyone will be held, featuring a tour of all the stalls, which will be complemented by a cooking demonstration using products available at the various market stalls.” The event will begin at 10:45 a.m., and three sessions are scheduled, at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 1:30 p.m., explained the Councillor for Commerce, who also announced that three local chefs will participate in the cooking demonstrations.
To encourage shopping, the Department of Commerce has ordered one thousand reusable bags for vendors to distribute to customers who shop there that day. In addition to providing them as a gift that day, this distribution of bags will also allow customers to continue using them when they visit the Municipal Market.
The Councillor for Commerce publicly invited residents of Benidorm and visitors to participate in this activity and emphasised that "if you come and spend Saturday morning with us, you'll see that our Municipal Market is growing a little bit every day and offers excellent, sustainable, high-quality, and locally sourced products."
In this regard, he recalled that “the City Council has carried out several improvements to the Municipal Market and has allocated the vacant stalls,” emphasising that “very soon we will once again have a bar-cafeteria, which will enrich and greatly enhance our Market and the centre of Benidorm.”
Finally, Javier Jordá stated that the ‘Get Closer to the Market '. initiative is another step towards promoting local businesses and joins other actions. These include the ‘Your Business Grows’ campaign and the sustainable shopping route that is currently being developed and will be presented shortly.
