Sant Isidre Pilgrimage celebrates the agricultural tradition of l'Horta de Benidorm to the Hermitage of Sanz

This morning, Benidorm once again celebrated the tradition that links it to its agricultural past in the L'Horta area. The Sant Isidre Pilgrimage is one of the most deeply rooted traditions that was commemorated again today with more than a dozen floats and several hundred people. The event was also attended by the Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; the regional representative, José Ramón González de Zárate; the Councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros; and numerous members of the local government.
Along with them and the Sant Isidre festivalgoers, the queens of the 2025 Festes Majors Patronals, Paula Pascual Sánchez and Aitana Pérez Gutiérrez, also participated in this event; along with their ladies-in-waiting, representatives of the Festes Majors Patronals Commission and the Association of Verge del Sofratge Penyes; The president of Sant Isidre, Álvaro Olivar, as well as festival-goers from this committee, residents, and representatives of other festive organizations in the Huerta, such as El Roser, Sant Antoni, and the Three Kings' Parade at the Ermita de Sanz.
After collecting the saint and transporting it to the centre of Benidorm, the pilgrimage departed just after 10 a.m. from Bilbao Street and accompanied the patron saint of farmers on his route along Paseo de Levante, Ametlla del Mar and Severo Ochoa avenues, and Camí Vell de l'Albir, until reaching the Ermita de Sanz. During the march, participants made the traditional stop in the Benidorm Palace parking lot, where they were offered lunch to replenish their energy before continuing their walk. It was undoubtedly on Paseo de Levante that the procession attracted the greatest interest from hundreds of residents and tourists, who did not hesitate to take numerous photographs of the event and applaud as the floats passed by.
Once at the hermitage, the traditional auction of botijos and other typical garden products was held, and the festivities continued with a giant paella and a live performance by a band.
The celebrations for Sant Isidre began last Thursday, the 15th, with a mass and a sweet snack for festival-goers, collaborators, and residents at the hermitage. The events continued yesterday afternoon in the hermitage square with the decoration of the floats that took part in the pilgrimage today, Sunday.
