La Cala also celebrated the day with the procession of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane

Jueves Santo en Benidorm.

This afternoon, at 8:30 p.m., the General Procession and the Holy Burial will travel through the historic centre of Benidorm

Benidorm's Holy Week experienced its Maundy Thursday last night with religious celebrations in Foietes-Colonia Madrid and La Cala neighbourhoods. At the parish church of Our Lady of Almudena, the images of the Sacramental Brotherhood of the Last Supper, the Brotherhood of the Holy Christ of Forgiveness and the Good Death, and the Virgin of Sorrows participated together in the traditional Procession of Silence.

The procession departed from the church at 9:00 p.m. and travelled for more than two hours through various streets of the neighbourhood, accompanied by hundreds of residents who followed the procession from the street and their balconies, maintaining the atmosphere of respect characteristic of this celebration.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, and numerous members of the City Council. Also participating were regional deputies José Ramón González de Zárate and Manuel Pérez Fenoll; the head of the Brotherhood of Christ of Forgiveness and the Good Death, Susana Martínez; The president of the Brotherhood of the Last Supper, Magdalena Torrente; and members of various brotherhoods in the city, led by the president of the Board of Brotherhoods, José Manuel Olivera, were present.

The processions were notable for their intensity, particularly the departure and return of the religious images to the church, especially that of Christ of Forgiveness and the Good Death, carried on the shoulders of its bearers and guarded by legionnaires; the trumpet solo in front of the Civil Guard barracks; and the processional marches performed by the Unión Musical and the S.M. la Nova bands.

Meanwhile, the parish of San Juan Bautista in La Cala also celebrated Maundy Thursday with a procession organised by the Brotherhood of the Prayer of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. The procession wound through the streets of the neighbourhood, accompanied by parishioners, residents, and municipal representatives, headed by the Councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, and the head of the brotherhood, Rafael González.
