El profesor Francisco Amillo presenta su libro ‘La Segunda República y la Guerra Civil en Benidorm’

The professor of History Francisco Amillo presented last night in the Assembly Hall of the City Council his fourth book, 'The Second Republic and the Civil War in Benidorm (1931-1939), an approximation to this period of the history of the city that qualified of "infinitely interesting". Professor Rafael Alemany was in charge of introducing the book in an event presented by the journalist Juan Díaz and the mayor, Toni Pérez closed the act, that it was also attended by the councilor of Historical Heritage and Culture, Ana Pellicer, members of the corporation and dozens of residents in Benidorm.

Amillo explained that beyond the historical exhibition, this work is "a tribute to the exemplary and human behavior" that the neighbors of Benidorm had during the war "in defense of people, without looking at ideologies." Thus, both the author and Rafael Alemany highlighted the absence of episodes of physical violence and victims in Benidorm during the war.

In this same idea, the mayor went on to point out that this book is "fundamental" for the city because it constitutes "a tribute to the people of Benidorm and the dignity of all the people in Benidorm who lived that period."

Francisco Amillo received in 2016 the cultural distinction 'Ciutat de Benidorm' for his teaching career and his contribution to knowledge and dissemination of the history of the city.
