Benidorm will promote inclusion through the Municipal Council of People with Functional Diversity
This collegiate body will be constituted in the coming weeks, once its regulation is already completed
Benidorm will constitute in the coming weeks the Municipal Council of People with Functional Diversity to promote policies and actions that promote the inclusion and active participation of this group in municipal decisions, especially those that concern them. The Councilor for Social Welfare, Angela Llorca, recalled that last July the corporation approved unanimously the regulations of this Council, which "is already finished since in the public exposure period the document has not received allegations."
Llorca explained that "this collegiate body of consultation" follows the model of others that already operate in the city as the Urban Scene or Mobility, "in which voice and participation are given to individuals, entities or groups that have something that say in relation to a field, in this case that of functional diversity. "
The head of Social Welfare has remarked that "with the creation and implementation of this Council we want to encourage participation and work for inclusion in all aspects so that people with functional diversity do not find barriers to develop in their daily lives."
Llorca has reported that "among the aims of this Council are to propose studies, programs and actions in favor of the integration and participation of people with functional diversity; to raise awareness of the problem of the collective by proposing solutions; or promote associationism. "
According to the regulations, this advisory body will be chaired by the Councilor for Social Welfare and composed of: representatives of associations and entities that have among their objectives are the promotion and protection of the rights of persons with functional diversity; representatives of other Municipal Councils, and also from the political groups of the corporation; a Technician from the Special Administration attached to Social Welfare; and personnel of that area.
There will be a General Assembly that will meet at least twice a year. This Assembly will create the different commissions of work.
