The Pilgrimage of San Isidro walks along the beach the tradition of the orchard

20 May 2018
La Romería de San Isidro pasea por la playa la tradición de la huerta

Hundreds of members of the fiesta have participated today in the Pilgrimage of San Isidro, patron of the farmers, who as every year has walked the image of the saint on Levante beach of Benidorm, with dozens of cars and tractors on a tour of the beach for later continue along the Severo Ochoa and Albir Avenues and finish at the Ermita de Sanz. A colorful and traditional act organized by San Isidro Commission, which this year Teresa Climent presides over.

The Pilgrimage has counted with the participation of the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; the councilman of Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; several councillors of the municipal corporation; as well as the queens of the Major Festivities, Fátima Carrobles and Anna Calbo with their courts of honor; the president of the Commission, Francisco Marín; the president of the Peñas Association, Dani Luque; and representatives of other festive groups in the city.

'La colla de xirimiters' led the pilgrimage in which hundreds of people on foot surrounded the wagons and farming tools that accompanied San Isidro and walked in front of the sea before the curious eyes of thousands of tourists who enjoyed a sunny morning on the beach and the seafront of Benidorm. At the height of Benidorm Palace the usual lunch took place based on sandwiches of 'tuna and tomatoe' or meat. Then, we will travel to the Hermitage to carry out the typical auction of earthenware pitchers and the donkey raffle, and enjoy a spectacular giant paella.
