The new Municipal Branch, a meeting point for residents and associations

09 September 2021
La nueva Extensión Administrativa Municipal, punto de encuentro para vecinos y asociaciones

'A pie de calle' the campaign promoted by the Department of Citizenship Participation to promote cooperation between citizens in collaboration with the Neighborhood Council, has moved this morning to the new Municipal branch that occupies the old premises of the House of Andalusia on Maravall Street.
Representatives of most of the associations in the area have accompanied the mayor, Toni Pérez; the councilor for Citizenship Participation, Ana Pellicer; Head of Municipal branches, Mónica Gómez; and the Councilor for Works, José Ramón González de Zárate, for a tour around the new offices in which the vice presidents of the Neighborhood Council, Teresa Garrido and Manuel Sánchez Notario, have also participated.
The Mayor of Benidorm has shown neighborhood representatives the facilities, open to the public since Monday, which were acquired "after the neighborhood lost the old branch in Limones street for not complying with urban regulations."
"On the one hand - Toni Pérez has pointed out - residents will be able to carry out their procedures with the administration from their neighborhood, without having to go to the City Hall" and on the other hand, an EDUSI Zone (Sustainable Urban Development Strategy and Integrated) since “the neighborhood is practically at the center of the project”.
The mayor has encouraged residents to make use of the new facilities that, once the pandemic is over, "will become a meeting point for residents and neighborhood associations."
For her part, the first vice president of the Neighborhood Council, Teresa Garrido has shown her joy at the entry into service of the new Municipal branch "in the first place - she said - because it responds to a request from the Neighborhood Council" that "has been attended to" by the City Council and "secondly, because since the one on Limones Street was closed, the neighbors had it very difficult to carry out their paperwork."
It is "very good news for the residents of Benidorm," emphasized Garrido, because the associations of these central streets: Alfredo Corral, Plaza de España, Jaime I, etc. can have a meeting place "for activities and social gatherings."
The municipal branch of Maravall Street has a large meeting room that can be shared by neighborhood and social groups. Attention to the public is carried out at this time from 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m., by appointment - as in the rest of municipal branches - due to the health situation.
