Historical Heritage advances that it will participate in the 2023 European Archeology Conference with more new activities

Nearly 34,000 people have visited the Tossal de La Cala so far in 2022, according to figures provided today by the Councilor for Historical and Cultural Heritage, Ana Pellicer, who highlighted that "these data confirm that our site, listed as Well of Cultural Interest (BIC), constitutes an attraction for residents and tourists, and also that the successive actions of recovery and to turn it into a museum have increased the population's interest in discovering or rediscovering this Roman 'castellum'”.
Pellicer explained that "the rate of visits to Tossal de La Cala has been maintained throughout the year, being logically more important during the main holiday periods, such as July or last Easter". Specifically, in July, at the start of the high season, about 6,000 people passed through the site, being the second month of 2022 with the highest number of people, only surpassed by April, in which almost 7,800 visitors have reached thanks to the push of Holy Week.
The mayor stressed that the 'castellum' is "fully accessible and admission is free", and added that "those who go to Tossal de La Cala found not only the remains of a Roman fort from the 1st century BC but also one of the best panoramic views of Benidorm”.
As Pellicer has recalled, "the City Council we offer the possibility of touring the site accompanied by an archaeologist to learn more in detail how this fort was organized and how people lived, who occupied it, what its architecture was like or what its role during the Sertorian Wars”.
These guided tours are scheduled on Fridays every hour between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays also every hour from 10:00 a.m. and with the last showing at 1:00 p.m.

Finally, the councillor has transferred that "we are going to continue promoting actions and performances for the enhancement of this important heritage enclave." “On the one hand –she has detailed, approaching a new and definitive phase to become it a museum of the Tossal; and on the other, carrying out activities that give visibility to the 'castellum' and place it within the circuit of outstanding Roman sites on the Mediterranean coast". In this sense, he has advanced that "after this year's experience, in 2023 we will once again participate in the European Archeology Conference, which will be held from July 17 to 18, and we will do so with more and new activities for all audiences, emphasizing the younger audience.
