The new car park, 4,800 square meters, is free and will improve the situation in this area in Levante
Tomorrow Benidorm opens the park-and-ride parking car on Lérida street with capacity for about 200 spaces
Tomorrow Benidorm City Council will open a new public park and ride to the public, located on Calle Lérida, in the Levante area, with a capacity of some 200 surface spaces that will be free for users. The plot in question covers an area of just over 4,800 square meters.
The plot has been tidied up in less than two weeks once an agreement was reached with the owner, with whom an agreement was signed authorizing the City Council to use said plot, located at the junction of Lérida, Murcia and Cuenca streets, as space for public parking.
The agreement specified that the City Council should use this land for the sole purpose of creating the public car park, as well as conditioning and cleaning the plot to be used for that purpose. In addition, it has been provided with an access ford and maintenance is also carried out by the Consistory.
This new public car park will be in force, in principle, until October 30, 2024, although the agreement can be extended for as long as deemed necessary if there is a willingness on the part of the parties. It is a similar formula to the one used years ago with the public car park on the Las Terrazas lot in the block formed by Europa Avenue, Mediterráneo Avenue and Madrid Avenue”.
The conditioning works have consisted of the removal of all the vegetation, an exhaustive cleaning of the plot and the placement of gravel. "With this formula, what we do is win parking spaces for residents and tourists while we eliminate the bad image offered by this plot, which had a lot of weeds and dirt as a result of its abandonment" explained the Councilor for Mobility, José Ramón González of Zarate.
The councillor also made a very positive assessment of the opening date "because it is before the bank holiday on August 15 and many people are going to come to visit" and highlighted that "it is a free car park in an important area of the city, with many establishments tourist, but also with first and second residence homes”.
González de Zárate has stressed the difficulty of finding parking in this area and has indicated that "it is enough to walk around these streets to see that there are hardly any spaces to park." For this reason, he has considered that "this new car park will make it possible to fluff up this area and improve that situation". In this sense, he recalled that in a short time the cultural centre will also be open and operational, with the Conservatories and a room for 500 people "so this car park will give us a good place to park the car comfortably when coming to the city ”.
