Minute of silence in Benidorm to condemn the latest case of sexist violence

08 April 2019
Minuto de silencio en Benidorm para condenar el último caso de violencia machista

The doors of Benidorm City Hall have returned to be the scene this afternoon of the minute of silence that has been observed by the municipal corporation, headed by the first deputy mayor, Ana Pellicer, and the councilor for Equality, Paquita Ripoll, in memory of the last victim of the gender violence registered in our country. Members of the municipal government, representatives of the different political groups and municipal employees participated in the rally.

The corpse of the 26-year-old girl disappeared since last February in Vinaròs was found this Sunday in Ulldecona (Tarragona) after the confession of her partner. The body was buried in an open field and showed signs of violence. The girl disappeared on February 16 after a strong discussion in a nightclub in Vinaròs with her partner. However, her sentimental partner did not report her disappearance at the Civil Guard Barracks until March 7. It is a new case of sexist violence since her partner has confessed the murder. He remains detained with two other men who could have helped him move the body from the house they shared in Vinaròs to the town of Tarragona.

From the Department of Equality reminds women who may be facing a case of abuse, who can go to municipal services and also use the toll-free number 016 against gender violence. The call is not reflected in the telephone bill, but it is advisable to delete it from the list of calls from mobile phones.
