The crier, Aída García Mayor, remembers her predecessors and the women of the neighborhood who with their stories have witnessed the history of the neighborhood

L’Horta throws itself into the Roser celebration

10 October 2021
Festa del Roser

After the stoppage forced by the pandemic, l’Horta neighbourhood in Benidorm has celebrated this weekend the festivity of El Roser, a deeply rooted party organized every year by ‘els fadrins’ or ‘fadrines’ in the neighborhood. A neighborhood that yesterday experienced the traditional offering to the Mare de Déu del Roser, in which, among others, the mayor, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Fiestas, Jesús Carrobles; the provincial deputy José Ramón González de Zárate; members of the Municipal Corporation; the festive entities of l’Horta –Sant Antoni, Sant Isidro and Cabalgata de Reyes de la Ermita-; the Comissió de Festes Majors Patronals; and l’Associació de Penyes.
At the end of the offering, La Ermita square hosted the proclamation, by Aida García Mayor, neighbor of l’Horta and councilor of Benidorm City Council.
In her proclamation, García Mayor paid tribute to the women of l'Horta who have preceded her as proclaimers, "women who had a lot to tell" and who with their stories contributed to witness the "history, official or daily" of the neighborhood and "Popular and festive culture", which form "an inestimable and precious heritage."
The crier also recalled the first ‘fadrines’ of Roser and toured some passages of her childhood in l ’Horta, a place where she affirmed that she“ creates community ”and“ family ”.
The mayor, for his part, applauded the work and effort made by the Comissió del Roser chaired by Arancha Morales to "recover the party" after the pandemic, and encourage many residents of l'Horta and the town to meet again yesterday at Plaça de la Ermita de Sanz, "meeting and coexistence point" of the neighborhood.
Later, accompanied by the xirimita and tabalet, some ‘copletes’ a la Mare de Déu del Roser were heard, and the Queens and Ladies of the Festes Majors Patronals danced the traditional ‘peuet dance’. A pyrotechnic show closed the celebrations on Saturday.
Continuing with the program of events, this Sunday a mass was celebrated, after which the name of the ‘fadrins’ who will be in charge of organizing the Roser festivities next year were read.
