Javier Navarrete's 'Voices' exhibition on LGBTI figures kicks off Benidorm Pride events
Casa del Fester is hosting the exhibition ‘Voices’ by the illustrator Javier Navarrete (El chico Llama) from today, an exhibition made up of twenty works on ‘roll up’ in which relevant national and international figures appear, LGTBI references from various fields and specialities.
The exhibition was inaugurated this afternoon by the Councilor for Equality, Ángela Zaragozí, and the representative of the LGBT Tourism Association, Santos Torres, as well as several members of the local corporation. The exhibition, which can be visited this week in the afternoon, marks the beginning of the program to celebrate ‘Benidorm Pride’.
Zaragozí explained that “we wanted to do more things during Benidorm Pride so that not everything was festive, and that is why we talked about including cultural actions such as this exhibition, which is the starting shot for the events this week.” The councillor has highlighted that the exhibition “combines the festive image, the colour and the vindication through the characters that appear in the illustrations”.
For his part, Santos Torres has pointed out that ‘Voices’ “aims to be a loudspeaker and a tribute to different LGTBI personalities and the entire collective”. In addition, both have assured that “it will be a great success because it is very interesting and has a lot of messages”.
On the other hand, it should be noted that a large part of the planned Benidorm Pride festivities this year will take place in leisure venues, nightclubs and hotels in the city. Likewise, the Benidorm Fest will once again be present with a float in the Parade and also with performances by some of the artists who have participated in the event such as Jorge González, the first of the confirmed names.
The Parade will have more than 20 floats and a variety of vehicles, increasing the participation of previous years and will maintain the route of previous editions, leaving at 5:00 p.m. from Rincón de Loix and going along Paseo de Levante and the Mediterráneo and l’Aigüera avenues until reaching the Julio Iglesias auditorium. After the parade, and in the same auditorium, it will be the turn of the ‘Main Stage’ party.
In the previous days, the ‘White Party’ will be held, also in Julio Iglesias auditorium; the ‘Pool Party’, in the Marina Resort Hotel; and the ‘Queen of the Palace’ in Ku Lounge Café. On the same Saturday, after the ‘Main Stage’, it will be the turn of the ‘Kluster After Party’ at Penélope Benidorm; while the ‘Closing Party’ will move to the Óscar Esplá amphitheatre in Parque de l’Aigüera. In addition, and as usual, there will be daily parties in the LGBT venues of the Old Town.
