Benidorm launches the first ‘September School’ to facilitate conciliation until the start of the school year
A dozen school-aged children from Benidorm have been taking part since Monday in the first edition of the ‘September School’, a service launched by FAMPA Marina Baixa in collaboration with the City Council and which seeks to promote conciliation during the first week of the month. The mayor of the city, Toni Pérez, and the Councillor for Education, Maite Moreno, have visited the students and staff responsible for this project at the facilities of the Leonor Canalejas public school, where the activities will be carried out until next Friday.
The mayor stressed that “the ‘September School’ is another resource that we are promoting from the City Council, in collaboration with the AMPAs, and that is aimed at families who during this first week of the month and until the school year begins need a space where they can leave their children to attend to their work obligations, especially in a period where the levels of employment are still very high in our city and in which there is little offer to match work and family since most public or private summer initiatives have already concluded”.
In this way, “we are expanding the offer that we were already giving with the Summer School, the PAEV and the rest of the summer programs of Sports or Youth, the services of ‘Escola Matinera’ or ‘Vespertina’ and the different special schools that are also organized at Christmas and Easter, with another resource and always thinking of the families”, added Toni Pérez.
Like the latter, the ‘September School’ is managed by the specialist company Animaciones Trokoló and will operate this week, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., although it also offers the ‘Morning’ service from 8 a.m. Likewise, for families who need it, children can also eat at the centre’s facilities, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., bringing their food.
For her part, the Education Councillor, Maite Moreno, has detailed that “during the day the children will carry out recreational-sports activities, crafts, workshops, activities, games and sports”.
