Education allocates 59,500 euros to reduce the cost of municipal nursery schools for families in Benidorm

Educación destina 59.500 euros para abaratar el coste de las escuelas infantiles municipales a las familias de Benidorm

Benidorm City Council will allocate an amount of almost 55,500 euros to reduce the cost of municipal nursery schools for families registered in the town. This has been agreed by the Local Government Board, after giving the green light to a proposal presented by the Councilor for Education, Maite Moreno, to reserve two financial items for a total amount of 59,448.50 euros and approve the bases of the 'Municipal Complementary Aid' for the 2023-2024 school year. This expense will mean an increase in municipal aid of 3.6% compared to the amounts paid the previous year, an increase that coincides with the increase in the IPREM in 2023, as highlighted by Moreno.

The Councilor for Education has defended that “the commitment of this government team always has been to help families in our city with school-age children and contribute to schooling expenses, especially in a stage as important as the first cycle of Childish". Likewise, she recalled that the nursery school model allows, on the one hand, to “reduce educational inequalities among young minors” and that they are “necessary centers for the development of the little ones, providing them with a favorable pedagogical environment.”, favors their skills and fosters social relationships.”

The financial allocation provided for this aid will, therefore, allow children aged 0-1 years to receive 121.85 euros per month, compared to 117.62 euros in the previous year, which will be added to the contribution of the Generalitat Valenciana, which varies depending on the income of each family. For their part, preschoolers aged 1-2 years will receive 67.23 euros per month -64.90 euros the previous year-, to which the regional contribution will also be added. In both cases, these amounts will reduce the cost of monthly tuition fees for P0 and P1, while in the case of children in the 2-3 year old age group, schooling is free and is fully covered by the Generalitat.

To meet this aid, Benidorm City Council has already approved an expense of 23,779.40 euros, intended to finance this line of aid for the last four months of the year, from September to December. Likewise, another expense of 35,669.10 has been committed to finance this aid corresponding to the first half of 2024: from January to June.

The mayor of Education has explained that to be a beneficiary of this aid, there are only three requirements: having a boy or girl enrolled in one of the city's municipal nursery schools; having requested correctly, promptly, regional aid, if one was eligible for it; and that the minor and the rest of the family unit are registered in Benidorm during the 2023-2024 school year, except in cases of proven urgent social need. Likewise, Maite Moreno has indicated that families that meet these three requirements, and on which there are no other conditions that prevent them from being beneficiaries, will not need to carry out any other procedure to benefit from them and that the amount received will be deducted monthly from the tuition fees.
