The experts now propose this option to “give the greatest publicity and guarantees to those interested in the procedure”
Benidorm will submit once again the garbage contract file to public information after updating the cost structure
Benidorm City Council will once again submit to public information the contract file for the urban solid waste collection service and cleaning of public spaces and, therefore, it will not be informed in the next Internal Regime information committee as planned. This was stated today by Mayor Toni Pérez after the latest report issued today by the Contracting department, at the request of the Mayor's Office, and in the absence of a common criterion on the part of the experts participating in the file.
This report expresses doubts about “whether the update of the cost structure”, carried out recently, “should be exposed to public information or not” as was already done with the previous document in 2022. As indicated in the report, “As a consequence of the time that has passed since the beginning of the contracting file, the amounts of the cost structure were updated, mainly due to the increase in Euribor, CPI, energy costs, and the new labor agreement.” This motivated the update to be taken back to the Contracting Board, which issued a favorable report on October 10.
It was this update of costs that motivated the decision to once again submit the file to public information for 20 days "to provide the greatest publicity and guarantees possible to all those interested in this procedure." according to the technical report.
“We are talking about the City Council's largest contract, which affects a fundamental public service and, as has been done since the beginning of the file, we want to offer maximum transparency and guarantee for all parties,” stated the mayor. To this end, “throughout its entire processing, this contract has been sent to all the necessary instances and organizations to guarantee the suitability of every one of the aspects contemplated in the document, as well as to resolve any possible technical discrepancies that may have arisen, and that is how we are going to continue acting, with light and stenographers.”
Toni Pérez has insisted that this file will not be finally debated in the plenary session next Monday "but we are convinced that this new procedure will only contribute to having the best possible service for the city."
The future contract for the urban solid waste collection and street cleaning service will have a bidding price of 328 million euros for an award period of fifteen years.
