The figures transferred by the National Police on SATE, indicate that the complaints fall despite increasing the number of people served

Down 12% complaints by foreign citizens in Benidorm

02 March 2020
Descienden un 12% las denuncias presentadas por ciudadanos extranjeros en Benidorm

The number of complaints filed in the Foreign Tourist Assistance Service (SATE) decreased by 12% in 2019 compared to the previous year, according to data transferred by the National Police Corps (CNP) during the follow-up meeting of this service, held last Friday and in which they participated, among others, the mayor, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Public Safety, Lorenzo Martínez; and the Commissioner of Benidorm, Ceferino Serrano. In addition, since 2017 the decrease in complaints filed by foreign citizens through SATE has reached 23%.

The mayor has indicated that “these data confirm that the high perception of security that tourists have, and that it exceeds 94% in the different indicators we have, corresponds to the reality of the city”. He also stressed that "the number of complaints has fallen by 23% in two years, despite the increase in the volume of people who go to SATE to make inquiries or various procedures."

Specifically, the number of people served in 2019 compared to two previous years “has increased by 25%; a growth that we attribute to two fundamental questions: to the fact that this service is increasingly known among tourists traveling to our city; and having moved the SATE to the heart of the accommodation and leisure area of foreign tourists, the Rincon de Loix.

According to the global figures provided by the CNP, in 2017 SATE paid attention to 3,422 people. In 2018, and with the new operating facilities in Rincon de Loix, the figure rose to 3,932 people; and in 2019, they were 4,281.
