The commemorative banner of World Rare Disease Day displayed on the balcony of the City Hall

26 February 2020
Desplegada en el balcón del Ayuntamiento la pancarta conmemorativa del Día Mundial de las Enfermedades Raras

The acting mayor of Benidorm, Ana Pellicer, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángela Llorca; together with representatives of the different municipal political groups, as well as members of the Association of Rare Diseases of Benidorm and Region (AERBECO) with their president Juan Miguel Martínez Bueno at the head, have displayed a commemorative banner of the City Hall this morning World Rare Disease Day. The ephemeris is celebrated worldwide on February 29 under the slogan ‘Rare diseases: a global challenge, a comprehensive challenge’.

That day, on Saturday, February 29, AERBECO organized a day of activities with the collaboration of the Department of Social Welfare and Los 40 Benidorm, which will take place at Plaza de SSMM Los Reyes de España. At 10.00 there will be an adapted exhibition of ‘Chikung’ for all audiences. At 11.00 musical animation of Los 40 Principales will begin, which will last until 14.00, but will pause at 12.00 to proceed to read the Manifesto on the occasion of World Rare Disease Day.

From AERBECO the emphasis is placed on the need to demand greater effort by the supramunicipal administrations in such important aspects as research, care for those who suffer from rare diseases when receiving aid and obtaining the corresponding disabilities, in addition to establishing a unit of criterion regarding these disabilities in the different autonomous communities.
