Starting next Monday, two new stops are enabled on Bilbao Avenue and in the final section of Europe
Benidorm will divert eleven urban bus lines along the beach until works on Mediterráneo are completed
Due to the imminent closure to the traffic of the avenue of Periodista Emilio Romero within the remodeling works of Mediterráneo, as of next Monday, March 2, and for approximately one month the eleven route will be diverted along Paseo de Levante urban bus lines. As reported by the Councilor for Mobility and Works, José Ramón González de Zárate, “while this detour lasts we will establish two new provisional bus stops on Bilbao Avenue and on the stretch of Europe Avenue closest to the beach, which they will service the eleven affected lines ”.
In this way, buses from Rincón de Loix that circulate on Mediterráneo will be diverted through Bilbao and will cross the first line of Levante until they reach Europe. De Zárate explained that "to enable the passage of buses, at the moment, at the intersection of both avenues with Paseo de Levante it is being working to save the existing slope." He also stressed that "instructions have been given to bus drivers to slow down when they travel on the first line of Levante."
The person in charge of Works and Mobility has indicated that “the remodeling work on Mediterráneo Avenue is currently focusing on paving the sidewalks, but also on the improvements planned in Esperanto and Periodista Emilio Romero, which prevents the circulation of buses on these last two lanes. ” Hence, "we have had to look for alternative routes for urban buses, affecting as little as possible the public transport service that is given to users."
The lines affected by the diversion are: 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 14, 16, 18 and 30.
