The event, which took place in the auditorium of the Fundación Mediterráneo, was part of the 'Sea Days 2024' that the foundation is celebrating this year.
The ship's captain, Joaquín Vegara, also introduced the speaker and highlighted that he trained as a US Navy pilot and later arrived at the Rota naval base and subsequently had several assignments on surface ships, eventually captaining two. Abel Romero has been in Iraq, he has fought against trafficking networks in the Mediterranean, he has spent three years at the headquarters of the
NATO in Brussels and has several decorations.
In his conference, Abel Romero explained to those present “what is happening in the Arctic, especially with the great powers” and focused his intervention on issues such as the Arctic as a geographical space, how it is governed, since when is it important, why tension has increased in that area and the positions and interests of the main countries have increased.
