Non-profit associations or entities that promote solidarity activities and activities in the areas of health, disability and social services may benefit

Benidorm will allocate €105,000 in aid to international cooperation projects and the integration of vulnerable groups

Benidorm destinará 105.000 euros en ayudas a proyectos de cooperación internacional y de integración de colectivos vulnerables

Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Social Welfare, will allocate €105,000 in grants this year to non-profit associations and organisations that carry out international development cooperation projects and develop programs of general interest in the areas of healthcare, disability, and social services. Both applications will be reviewed by information committees and approved by the Local Government Board next Monday.

The first round of grants amounts to €15,000 and is open to non-profit organisations and associations located in Benidorm that promote solidarity activities and active cooperation with developing countries. "The City Council's desire to continue supporting these organisations is why this call for grants has been created, within the framework of our policy of raising awareness and supporting international solidarity," stated Ángela Zaragozí, Councillor for Social Welfare. Along with the approval of the expenditure, the call for proposals will also be approved and published.

On another note, the Governing Board will also address the proposal to approve the terms and conditions governing the grant of subsidies to non-profit organisations that develop programs of general interest aimed at affected individuals and their families in the areas of healthcare, disability, and social services. The expenditure to be approved in this case amounts to €90,000.

Regarding this aid, Zaragozí noted that organisations whose projects "are directly related to their objectives and that represent greater integration of the group to which they belong" will be eligible. In this regard, he added that the projects "will be aimed at people with disabilities or in a situation of dependency, or with chronic illnesses, or victims of any type of violence or sexual abuse." These projects must also demonstrate "the social benefit of their development, as well as the specific actions that will be implemented to achieve this goal."
