Benidorm studies to close to the traffic the access to La Cruz de Serra Gelada at the Municipal Council of Environment's proposal

21 November 2016
Benidorm estudia cerrar al tráfico el acceso a La Cruz de Serra Gelada a propuesta del Consejo Municipal de Medio Ambiente

The City Council will install wooden fences in a stretch of 300 meters from Punta Llisera

Benidorm City Council will study the feasibility of closing the access to La Cruz de Serra Gelada, a proposal of the Municipal Council for Environment, which met on Monday after six years without being convened. A Council in which have participated, among others, the councilor for the Environment, José Ramón González de Zárate; representatives of the political groups of the corporation and of the Natural Park of Serra Gelada; as well as members of the Neighborhood Council, registered environmental associations, Civil Protection, Environmental Volunteering, Hosbec, Fishermen's Guild, diving clubs and unions. De Zárate explained that the municipal technicians "are going to study this proposal, which has had the almost unanimous support of the Council and which seeks to prevent the access of vehicles to this emblematic point, following the model that has already been implemented in other places of tourist and environmental interest such as the Faro de l'Albir ". If it is solved that the proposal is viable "Mobility will have to determine from which point the traffic is closed". The councillor is convinced that the restriction to traffic "would help to avoid or at least reduce the problems of dirt that usually occur in the area." In this regard, he recalled that the cleanliness of this area is not municipal competence, although it is being assumed "from the City Hall because of the lack of staff in the Natural Park." De Zárate recalled that from the City Council is working to improve the image and signage of the access to Serra Gelada.
