Benidorm Skyline Film Festival selects the 25 short films in competition

El Skyline Benidorm Film Festival selecciona los 25 cortometrajes a concurso

The organization of Benidorm Skyline Film Festival, which takes place from April 4 to 7, has already selected the 25 short films that will compete in the three contest categories: Best Documentary, National Fiction and Valencian Short Films. After viewing the 300 audiovisual productions presented, the programmers of the festival have chosen the following short films:

Short Fiction: ‘Greta’, by Daniel Calavera; ‘Volcánica’, by Alberto Velasco; ‘El jarrón’, by Rubén Tejerina; ‘La nortia’, by Carlos Baena; ‘Un día en el parque’, Diego Porral; ‘Destino: Verano’, by Antonio Sosa; ‘Tono menor’, by Iván Sainz-Pardo; ‘Caronte’, by Luis Tinoco; ‘Bolck 24’, by Fernando Pozo; ‘La Guarida’, by Lago de Soto; ‘Mi hermano Juan’, by Cristina and Mª José Martín; ‘Nomeolvides’, by Ferrán Navarro-Beltrán; ‘El llibre’, by Francesca Catalá; ‘Best Seller’, by Max Lemcke; ‘Uncoloured Girl’, by Charlie García Villalba; and ‘Flotando’, by Frankie Leonardis.

Valencian shorts: ‘Minotauro’, by Greg A. Sebastian; ‘Ipdentical’, by Marco Huertas; ‘El olvido’, by Xenia Grey and Cristina Vaello; ‘Hay algo en la oscuridad’, by Fran Casanova; and ‘Manspreading’, by Abdelatif Hwidar.
Short Documentaries:‘2001 Destellos en la oscuridad’, by Pedro González Bermúdez; ‘Kyoko’, by Marcos Cabotá and Joan Bover; ‘Heridas contra el olvido, by Raqual Agea; y ‘Nuestra vida como niños refugiados en Europa’, by Silvia Venegas.  

The Skyline Benidorm Film Festival works under the formula of payment by selection, in such a way that all these works will receive 200 euros. In addition to the payment for selection, the festival will give four awards: the best short film, which will receive 550 euros; and three prizes of 350 euros for the best Valencian short, the best documentary and for the best script. There is also a prize for the best short film made by students: a distribution bonus in charge of the Movibeta platform, which will allow them to send their work to national and international festivals

The councilor for Culture, Ana Pellicer, and the director of the contest, Beatriz Hernández, have indicated that "once selected the short films to contest, everything is prepared for the third edition of the Skyline Benidorm Film Festival, which like the previous year to have parallel activities and complementary to the projections, such as workshops or lectures, of which in the coming days will be announced all the details.
