Benidorm resumes the 'Exemplary Neighbor Award'
The city of Benidorm will once again recognize its 'Exemplary Neighbor' this year. The Department of Citizenship Participation has already transferred to the Neighborhood Council its interest in resuming this initiative and promoting a new edition of this distinction, which recognizes "people registered in the city in which personal, civic and Outstanding and notable ethicists who, without a doubt, have served as a reference and inspiration for the public”, as recalled by the mayor of the area, Ana Pellicer.
Pellicer applauded the purpose of this award, launched in 2011 by the Neighborhood Council since it contributes to "value the work, dedication, altruism, commitment, and empathy of our neighbors, personified in each edition in a person who embodies these values ”.
The Councilor for Citizenship Participation advanced that "from the department, we make ourselves available to the 'Exemplary Neighbor Award' Commission, chaired by Teresa Garrido, to collaborate in all actions and communications to promote this edition and thus ensure that it has the widest range possible."
Pellicer stressed that “we are talking about an endearing recognition, which focuses directly on the best that we are and has as a society: solidarity and selfless work in favor of others and the general interest; and also in the work to support and encourage culture, sports or associations”.
In previous editions of the 'Exemplary Neighbor Award', the following have been recognized: Francisco Fenoll Rostoll (2011), Antonio Gonzaga Picó (2012), Francisco Alvado Barber (2013), Carmen Cerdá Garrido (2014), María Rosa González Mata-Rubio and Juan José García Albarrán (posthumously in 2015), Casimiro Vila Esteban (2016), Eusebi Chiner Vives (2017), María Zaragoza Lloret (2018) and Jesús Rosillo Jiménez (2019).
As in previous editions, the 'Exemplary Neighbor Award Commission will draw up some bases that will establish, among other issues, the criteria that will govern the presentation of candidacies, the deadlines for formalization, and the system for designating the winner.
