Benidorm City Council, through the Department of Employment and Local Promotion, has requested a subsidy of 253,726.80 euros to hire 16 unemployed young people under 30 years old. The councillor of the department, Mónica Gómez, explained that “one more year, and within the municipal employment promotion policy between the population segments with higher percentages of unemployment, we participate in a new call of the EMPUJU program, aimed at the population under 30 years ”.

A program informed, financed with European funds and launched by the Ministry of Sustainable Economics, productive sectors, commerce and labor with the charge to the ‘Avalem Joves’ plan within the National Youth Guarantee System ”

Gómez detailed that “the City Council intends to be able to hire 16 young people; figure that we can reach if we get the full amount requested. In case of obtaining fewer funds from the requested, the initial forecast of contracts to the subsidy finally received must be adjusted ”. She also recalled that "the subsidy of European funds allows us to cover a part of the cost of the program, which is always complemented by a contribution from the City Council."

The responsible for employment and local promotion remarked that “we live in moments of economic uncertainty at the national level and therefore it is important to promote actions that favor hiring and employment generation, which is the best social policy, offering, in this case, our young people not only stability during for a year but also a great opportunity to increase their professional experience for the future. ”

The previous edition of EMPUJU program, operational at the moment, resulted in the hiring for 12 months of 13 young people, who are serving in different departments and municipal buildings. In parallel, within the framework of the Explus program, it was also hired at the end of 2022 and for one year to 15 unemployed people over 30 years. For the development of both programs, Benidorm City Council obtained Labora subsidies for a total amount of 422,367.59 euros; while the municipal contribution was 241,283.09 euros.

The municipal provision is that the new edition of the EMPUJU program starts at the end of this year.
