Benidorm receives the 'Citizens Award' for being the first certified DTI in the world

Yesterday night the mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, received the Citizens Award, in its twenty-eighth edition, in an act where both the municipal initiatives to achieve the DTI certification and the materialization of the commitments to digitize society with initiatives like BenidormTIC.
The award, whose delivery was held at the Secretary of State for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence, dependent on the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and convened by the Audiovisual and Digital Citizen Council, has reached its twenty-eighth edition with this and continues to support digital transformation with a technological approach where the role of people comes first.
Pérez thanked the award, and highlighted the willingness of Benidorm and its government team to pass audits and exceed the percentages in each axis "to achieve a more friendly, accessible and sustainable city, reducing the digital gap in society and favoring the processes of activity in general and tourism in particular. Benidorm, "once again -said Pérez- has opened a path: in 1956 with the first general municipal planning plan, even prior to the land law, and 62 years later, in 2018, certifying itself with DTI and marking the path for that certification of the future for the people and the city”.
The mayor, before images of the city, listed the main characteristics of the city, the commitment to Tourist Intelligence, the DTI certification, and the permanent work "in a city in constant development, always attentive to markets, novelties and trends, which bets for its neighbors and residents as much as for tourism”. Pérez highlighted the importance of permanent work and collaborations, pointing out Benidorm's alliance with the SDGs and "especially with SDG17, the alliances to achieve the objectives".
A constant in the ceremony was the notoriety of Benidorm and the signs of sympathy and recognition lavished by those present, where the figure of happiness associated with the city was the most notorious of the groups after the act.
This had begun with a keynote speech by Carmen Artigas, Secretary of State for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence, which was followed by the delivery of three awards for the social component -Third Sector Platform, Taxi Drivers of Spain and Messengers of Peace, whose award was collected Father Ángel- behind those who delivered those corresponding to technological projects and realities for the benefit of people: Ciudad Real Provincial Council for the 'Prodigi' provincial project; to the CEOE of Valladolid, for the DigitalízaTE initiative; to the City Council of Talavera de la Reina, for Talavera Tecnológica; to the MGS Foundation, for its involvement in digital initiatives; to the City Council of Cangas del Narcea for its commitment to Smart-EcoVillage; to Cáceres Provincial Council, by Red Circular FAB; and to Benidorm City Council “in recognition for being the first certified DTI in the world, since 2018, overcoming audits and systematically improving in the certification axes, in accordance with the UNE 178501 standard, for the Management of Smart Tourist Destinations; and for its commitment to innovation, sustainability, universal accessibility and technological solutions for better governance of neighbors, residents and tourists”.
