Benidorm promotes sustainable mobility among the general public with a new edition of the Benimov Fair and Forum

Benidorm promueve entre el gran público la movilidad sostenible con una nueva edición de la Feria y Foro Benimov

Visitors will be able to test drive the latest electric cars on the market, which will be on display on Mediterráneo Avenue

Benidorm will once again become the epicentre of sustainable mobility this week with a new edition of the Benimov Fair and Forum, an event that revolves around urban mobility, vehicles and sustainable technology and that will take place from this Thursday until next Sunday, September 15. The Councillor for Mobility, Francis Muñoz, has revealed some details of the new edition of Benimov, an event jointly organised by the Benidorm City Council, the Independent Association of Merchants of Benidorm and the Region (Aico) and the consultancy CHao. “Benidorm is increasingly a benchmark in sustainable mobility”, stressed the Councillor for Mobility, who also recalled that “events like this serve to keep us at the forefront” in this area and that Benimov constitutes “a consolidated event, which this year reaches the fourth edition of the forum and the fifth of the fair”. Francis Muñoz also highlighted that, throughout these days, “top-level speakers will attend and the latest developments in the market in electric and hybrid vehicles will be discussed, which the public will also be able to see and try out on the streets of our city.”

As the councillor recalled, Benimov is divided into two interrelated parts: the Forum and the Fair. The first of these, the Benimov Forum, will take place throughout the day on Friday in the Torrejó Municipal Building, with various round tables where “very interesting topics related to mobility will be discussed, with high-level speakers.”

He also highlighted that the opening and closing conferences will be given by two “renowned” experts such as the professor from the University of Alicante and project director of INECA, Armando Ortuño, who will open the day by talking about the ‘Study of Railway Vertebration in the Province of Alicante’. As regards the closing ceremony, Fernando Palacín, a national and international reference in the hydrogen sector for his recognised career as Director of the Fundación Hidrógeno Aragón and Hydrogen Europe Research-FCH-JU, will give a lecture entitled ‘Experiences and lessons learned in the deployment of hydrogen’.

The Forum will also feature the participation of other experts, such as Fernando Temprano, Antonio Pérez Collar, Isabel Coleto, Alejandro Sturniolo, Gilein Steensma, Roberto Blanco, Juan de Dios Bornay, Carlos Caselles, Juan Carlos Brotons, Vicente Gozálvez Sempere and Juan Manuel Martínez Alcaraz.

As regards the Fair, Avenida del Mediterráneo, in the section between the confluence with Calle Bilbao and Plaza de la Hispanidad, will once again be the showcase where the latest electric and hybrid vehicles that have come onto the market will be displayed and where exhibitors from the main car brands will participate. In addition, the Councillor for Mobility has recalled that, as in previous years, “any visitor will be able to try them out, making an appointment with the exhibitors”, throughout the three days of assembly: Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Finally, the Councillor for Mobility has highlighted that the final objective of this fair, unlike others that are held in other places, “is not commercial, but rather seeks to bring the electric vehicle closer to the public, so that they know the options that are on the market and how they work”, since they will be the priority means of transport “in a very short time”. For this reason, he has invited the people of Benidorm and visitors to “participate and enjoy the event”.

This Thursday, from 8.30 pm, the institutional welcome ceremony for Benidorm 2024 will take place, in which sponsors, collaborators, exhibitors and speakers will participate.
