The department of Education Benidorm City Hall opens next Monday, April 23, the registration period to apply for enrollment in the three municipal children's schools-Fontanelles, Les Caletes and El Tossalet-and the Early Childhood Service (SAPI) Nanets, corresponding to early childhood education.
The mayor, Toni Pérez, who is also in charge of the Education area, has informed that for the next academic year "there are 198 vacancies" for children from 0 to 2 years for families with children born in the years 2016, 2017 and 2018. The number of vacancies is distributed in 16 child seats of 0 years; 115, of P1, for students born in 2017; and 67 children's places of 2 years for those born in 2016.
Perez has qualified that the global offer of the three municipal nursery schools and the SAPI amounts to 366 desks, although 168 of those school positions are already occupied by students with schooling in previous courses that have confirmed their enrollment and that in September will rise in level .
However, "depending on the demand" there is the possibility of "enabling two more units of 1 or 2 years in municipal" escoletes ". Specifically, it could be increased by 26 places for students born in 2017, or 40 for those born in 2016, since "the 'ratios' are different for P1 and P2."
As a remarkable novelty, on this occasion, and due to the advance of the application calendar, it will allow "the registration of 'non-born' of those whose birth is scheduled before May 5".
The deadline for applications for admission to "these 100% municipal seats" ends on May 4, and the documentation can be presented in administrative extensions or in the Department of Education, located on the third floor of the City Council.
In addition to the municipal offer, the mayor recalled that Benidorm has 72 places 'extra' of P2, for boys and girls born in 2016, in the classrooms "that the Ministry of Education, with the collaboration of the City Council, is making available in the schools Aitana, Mestre Gaspar López, Vasco Núñez de Balboa and Puig Campana ". The application deadline for these classrooms will be open from May 17 to 24.
The mayor explained that the Benidorm school park for the three levels of pre-school kindergarten education amounts to 438 desks "between the offer exclusively municipal and that provided by the Ministry of Education." Of these 438 school positions, a total of 270 vacancies are offered for the next school year.
These numbers make Benidorm "one of the cities in Spain that has more offer in this educational section", thanks to a "sustained effort over time by residents, as infrastructure and services are mainly supported charged to the municipal budgets ".
Finally, the mayor meant that "early non-compulsory schooling should be understood as a policy of spending and social investment, and direct attention to families," in this case with a view to "family conciliation."
