Benidorm kicks off its Moors and Christians festivities with the 'Parliament of the Moorish Invasion'

Benidorm began the celebration of the Moors and Christians festival last night, which will continue until Sunday evening. The "Parliament of the Moorish Invasion" marked the official start of these festivities at 8:00 p.m. at the foot of the castle that has been installed in the Plaza de SS MM Los Reyes de España.
The event, organised by the Moors and Christians Association, began with the gathering of Christian troops at their camp, where the Moorish troops arrived after landing. Both sides held talks amid offerings and medieval games. Failing to reach an amicable agreement, the event concluded with the "Moorish Invasion of the Town of Benidorm," after which a festive dinner was held with the participation of all the "filaes": Benidarhims, Nazaries, Tuaregs, and Tagarino Muslims for the Moorish side; Crusaders and Knights of the Baronia for the Christian side.
Today, Friday, the day began at 10:30 a.m. with a Diana procession that departed from Escuelas Street and travelled along Tomás Ortuño, Paseo de la Carretera, Martínez Alejos, and Gambo streets to Plaza de la Hispanidad, before moving to the Castle in the Town Hall Square. In the afternoon, at 8:00 p.m., the Castle will host the "Christian Embassy and Reconquest" event.
