Benidorm once again shows its devotion to Santa Faz with the traditional mass and pilgrimage

17 April 2026
Benidorm vuelve a mostrar su devoción por la Santa Faz con la tradicional misa y la romería

Benidorm celebrated the Festivity of Santa Faz yesterday, a celebration that began at 7:00 p.m. with a mass at the Church of San Jaime, followed by the traditional procession along Alicante and Santa Faz streets, in which several hundred devotees participated.

The religious ceremony at the church was attended by Mayor Toni Pérez and the Councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, as well as members of the municipal council. Also present were the adult and children's queens of the Patron Saint Festivities, Laura Ivars and Carmen Guillem, the president of the Fiestas Committee, Ramón Cano, and Francisco Llorens, president of La Barqueta Local Association, among other dignitaries and numerous worshippers.

After Mass, the pilgrimage began, departing from the church and winding its way through Alicante and Santa Faz streets in Benidorm's old town. Parish priests Juan Antonio González, Jaume Benaloy, and Aniceto Villamide led the procession, preceded by a group of xirimiters (traditional musicians playing shawms). Following them were the mayor, the festival queens, and other local authorities. During the procession, the traditional prayer was recited before the image of Santa Faz, which was placed on a small altar.
