Benidorm joins the congratulations to Isabel II on her Platinum Jubilee

Turismo.

On the occasion of the celebration of the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain, Benidorm joins in congratulating the monarch for her 70 years of service to the British crown.

Tomorrow, the 2nd, coinciding with the official programming, Benidorm will launch a congratulatory message from the Plaza de la Hispanidad techno-milestone and through the city's system of screens.

The mayor, Toni Pérez, has also addressed a congratulatory message, which he transferred to the United Kingdom ambassador in Madrid, expressing "Benidorm's sincere desire to join in the celebration of this remarkable Anniversary and wish the best for the coming years".

For Benidorm, the British market accounts for 40% of the tourism it receives, which represents 80% of the international tourism that arrives in the city, which is deeply rooted in the collective imagination of the United Kingdom as a vacation spot and an ideal of happiness.

The number of British tourists is recovering, after the hard stage of the pandemic and the restrictions on mobility, the traditional role in the city of Benidorm. Already this past April, the British partially recovered their traditional market share and even surpassed the national market, adding integers to the hotel occupancy percentages.

Looking ahead to the key moment of the summer, expectations are very high based on the projection of flights to the Alicante-Elche airport, whose forecasts are already higher than those of the 2019 season when El Altet set its record. Flights from Manchester, London, Stanted, Bristol Midlands, Birmingham, Bradford, Luton, Glasgow and Newcastle continue to show a sustained recovery trend every day of the week. The British continue to lead the searches for flights from the United Kingdom to Benidorm and Costa Blanca.

With almost 4,100 registered citizens, the citizens of the United Kingdom make up the largest group of the international population in Benidorm, a city that celebrates some of the most outstanding events and traditions of the United Kingdom, such as the Poppy Appeal, and that comes to the commitment to integration as occurs with the Fancy Dress Party after the program of Major Patron Saint Festivities of the city.
