The plenary session, at the proposal of the local government, approved to join this program aimed at sectors affected by the pandemic and to which the City Council contributes almost 790,000 euros
Benidorm formalizes its adherence to ‘Parenthesis Grants’ of Plan Resistir
Benidorm City Council today formalized its adherence to ‘Parenthesis Grants’ destined for productive sectors affected by the pandemic and which are framed within the so-called ‘Resist Plan’. The mayor, Toni Pérez, recalled that "the plenary session approved on Friday a proposal from the local government to adhere to this aid program, which is co-financed by the Town Halls, Provincial Councils and the Generalitat Valenciana."
"Today - he has stated - we have formalized this procedure, through which the City Council agrees to contribute 15% of the funds estimated by the Generalitat to help the self-employed and micro-enterprises of the city in sectors such as the hospitality industry." In total, Benidorm's contribution will be approximately 790,000 euros, to which will be added funds from the Provincial Council and the Consell to add 5.2 million.
According to the Valencian government's calculations, Benidorm is the fifth city in the region with the highest volume of business and establishments affected by the pandemic and by the restrictive measures adopted to stop the advance of Covid-19, such as the perimeter closure of the region or the hospitality industry. These ‘Parenthesis Grants provide benefits of 2,000 euros for each self-employed person or micro-enterprise, with improvement sections of 200 euros per employee affiliated with Social Security as of December 31, 2020”. The municipalities themselves will be in charge of the processing of these grants ”.
Toni Pérez has regretted that finally these 'Parenthesis Aids' will not reach the entire productive fabric most affected by the pandemic as announced, since "based on the publication in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana, they will be left out "of these benefits" all companies in these sectors that exceed 10 workers, innumerable in the case of Benidorm.
The mayor has stressed that "the City Council will not give up its efforts to contribute municipal resources to all initiatives" of its own or those of other administrations aimed "to support the productive fabric." Thus, he recalled that the "Benidorm Waits for You" contest is already underway, which follows in the wake of the Christmas Window Dressing contest "and with which a general second prize of 500 euros will be awarded to all participants.
In addition, and as the Councilor for Employment and Local Development, Mónica Gómez, communicated last Friday in plenary session, as in 2020, the Benidorm City Council plans to launch again a line of aid for companies, businesses, SMEs and the self-employed , focused on reducing the economic effects that the pandemic has caused on the local productive fabric, and which have an initial investment already contemplated of 2.5 million euros ”.
To these direct benefits to companies and the self-employed, are added the aid to families, whose bases are being finalized and which has an initial and expandable endowment of another 2.5 million. "Hopefully this aid can be available to citizens as soon as possible."
