Benidorm authorizes the works of the underground parking of the shopping center of the industrial state

Benidorm City Council has approved the project for the execution of the underground parking of the commercial center projected in the industrial estate, and has authorized the start of the works. The decree signed today by the Town Planning Councilor, Lourdes Caselles, which gives viability to the construction of this parking lot of more than 62,500 square meters, divided into two basements and with about 2,300 seats, of which about one hundred will be accessible and around 65 will go to electric vehicles.
Caselles explained that “the parking project presented by Unibail Rodamco has a material execution budget of more than 16.4 million euros, which translates into an income for the municipal coffers of just over one million euros between fees and taxes. " Specifically, the company must face about 659,000 euros in concept of ICIO (Construction, Facilities and Works Tax) and more than 380,000 euros for the administrative fee.
The head of Urban Planning has indicated that “the large commercial and leisure center designed by Unibail and Rodamco will be built on this parking building, which will have more than 120 stores, hypermarket, and an entire leisure facility with eight movie theaters and more than 20 restaurants. ”
Caselles stressed that "in addition to reporting significant income for municipal coffers, both the construction of the parking and the shopping center and its commissioning will have a significant impact in terms of employment." In total, and according to estimates transferred by the company, the opening of the shopping center will generate 1,700 direct jobs, to which another 1,000 indirect ones derived from the work and maintenance of the facilities are added once they are operational.
Finally, the mayor has indicated that “the imminent start of the underground parking works are the result of the quiet but constant work done from the City Council with the developer of PP 3/1 and Unibail Rodamco to boost the development of the industrial estate , that we are sure that it will be a pole of business attraction and generation of employment and wealth for Benidorm ”.
