The European Foundation for Environmental Education has awarded once again to Benidorm three blue flags for Levante, Mal Pas and Poniente beaches. The blue flag is an award that annually is awarded to beaches and ports that meet the most stringent environmental conditions such as water quality, information, environmental education, environmental management, safety, services and facilities.
The Councilor for Beaches, Lorenzo Martínez, has been very pleased with the concession of the new flags that will soon wave in the city because "our beaches," he said, "and our waters have an impeccable environmental quality. Benidorm deserves that award. " With these awards "it is clear the commitment of Benidorm with the defense of its most precious treasure, its beaches," he has condemned.
The Comunitat Valenciana will wear blue flags on 129 beaches and 15 ports during 2017, four more than last year, which places our comunity in first place in the Spanish ranking, which will receive 684 ensigns. Behind the Valencian are Galicia (113), Catalonia (95) and Andalusia (90).
