The City Council hires six unemployed people through the Labora Jove, Labora Dona and ETRAME programmes

Benidorm City Council has hired six unemployed residents as part of the Labora Jove, Labora Dona and ETRAME programmes, subsidised by Labora through funds from the Spanish State Public Employment Service (SEPE). The new employees began work on August 1 and will provide services for ten months under the Labora Jove and Labora Dona programmes, and for nine months under ETRAME.

The main aim of these programmes is to help participants improve their employability by gaining professional experience. To mark the launch of these employment promotion initiatives, Benidorm Mayor Toni Pérez and Councillor for Employment and Local Development Mónica Gómez welcomed the new members of staff joining the City Council. They wished them “a valuable work experience and professional growth that will help improve their opportunities for entering the labour market,” said Toni Pérez.

The six employees hired will carry out their duties in the areas of Statistics, Youth, Social Centres and Sports Facilities. Their work will mainly involve public-facing services, thereby strengthening the provision of these municipal services.

Benidorm City Council has received a grant of €35,081.12 to hire two young people under the age of 30 through the Labora Jove programme. Under the Labora Dona programme, the approved grant amounts to €35,897.26 to employ two unemployed women returning to the labour market. Finally, through ETRAME, two people with mental health conditions have joined the workforce thanks to a grant of €38,727.01. In this case, they are individuals who had been receiving support from Benidorm’s Mental Health Care and Monitoring Service (SASEM) and who are now in a position to re-enter employment.

During his visit, the Mayor highlighted that “these programmes provide employment opportunities for unemployed residents of Benidorm, while at the same time allowing the City Council to strengthen various municipal services by incorporating staff who will provide direct assistance to citizens.”
