Training and job opportunities of the Dual Vocational Training, under debate in Benidorm

This Wednesday, the Assembly Hall of Benidorm City Council hosted a training session on Dual Vocational Training, organized by the Department of Employment and Local Promotion, to address the work and training opportunities offered by this type of teaching, as well as the new regulations that affect Vocational Training, specifically, the practices of students in training cycles in companies. The mayor of the city, Toni Pérez, has been in charge of officially opening this day, called 'Dual FP, an opportunity for the future', which has brought together representatives of numerous educational centres in Benidorm and the region where training cycles are taught, as well as the main business associations to debate this topic.

In his speech, Pérez highlighted the capacity of the FP to “attract talent” and to “respond to the needs of companies, especially those of our tourism industry.” For this reason, the mayor has pointed out that "more than an opportunity for the future, which is the name of the day, I would say that the Dual FP is a guarantee for the future", after which he has highlighted "the wide range of possibilities for those who continue their studies and for those who reengage in studying in search of new and better opportunities.”

Likewise, Toni Pérez has defended that, “with all the range of training it offers, vocational training needs to continue to be at the forefront to train the best professionals and provide the best response to companies.” He concluded by applauding the organization of this day for “the number of connections that have already emerged and will emerge between those who are responsible for training, such as educational centres; that of mediating between job seekers and companies, such as our Employment and Local Development Agency through LABORA; and among those who can hire, such as companies.”

In addition to the mayor's participation, other voices from the educational and business world also played a prominent role, as explained by the Councilor for Employment and Local Promotion, Mónica Gómez. Not in vain, the first presentation, titled 'The new challenges of Vocational Training', was given by the general director of Vocational Training of the Generalitat Valenciana, Marta Armendia Santos.

After that, a round table was held under the title 'The new needs of companies. The current profiles in demand', in which Débora Carretero, president of AVIBE, the Association of Travel Agencies of Benidorm and the Costa Blanca, took the floor; Alejandro Gómez, president of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of the Marina Baixa, Jovempa-Marina Baixa; Mayte García Córcoles, general secretary of Hotel and Tourism Business Association of the Valencian Community, Hosbec; Piedad Rodriguez, vice president of INMOBECO, Benidorm and Region Real Estate Association; Diego Salinas, manager of the Association of Bars, Restaurants, Cafes and Nightlife of Benidorm and Region, ABRECA; and Ana Gosálvez, provincial secretary of the Valencian Confederation of Businessmen, CEV, in Alicante.

The day ended with a coffee, where participants shared concerns, doubts and proposals about Dual Vocational Training.

Among the data highlighted on this day, in the Marina Baixa Region, twelve public centres are offering Vocational Training, of which five are located in Benidorm. They offer 66 training cycles belonging to 19 different professional families, which reflects the “great variety” that exists and is available to the population.

The councillor of the department, Mónica Gómez, showed her “satisfaction” with the development of this day and recalled that the Dual Vocational Training is “a modality that is carried out in educational centres and companies, which allows students students “adapt as much as possible to the labour needs of the area and improve their employability as much as possible.”

Mónica Gómez has also announced that, apart from this day and other activities carried out by the municipal areas of Employment and Education to promote Dual Vocational Training, next May the Educational and Regional Fair of Vocational Training, with the aim that the participating students can “select the training that best suits both their personal preferences and the needs of the companies.”
