Bad weather forces the cancellation of the pilgrimage to La Almudena, and the signing of the Book of Rules has been moved to the chapel of Mare de Déu del Sofratge
With a sung Rocío Mass (a Rociero-style Mass with singing), the Triduum of the Rocío Brotherhood of Benidorm comes to an end
At ten o'clock in the morning, the main church of Benidorm hosted the Rocío Mass, sung by the choir of the Royal Brotherhood of Emigrants of Huelva, directed by David Carrasco, the 2026 Rocío Pilgrimage herald for Benidorm.
Hundreds of residents attended the religious service. Among them were the mayor, Toni Pérez, the councillor for Fiestas, Mariló Cebreros, and other members of the municipal corporation, who accompanied the president of the Brotherhood, Jesús Malumbres, and the Sister Superior, M. Carmen Amador.
Also present were the queens of the 2026 Patron Saint Festival, Laura Ivars and Carmen Guillem, as well as the president of the Commission and representatives of the Casa de Andalucía (Andalusian Centre).
Following the Eucharist, and due to inclement weather, the Brotherhood moved the signing of the Rule Book by the Sister Superior and the mayor to the Chapel of Our Lady of Suffrage, an event originally scheduled to take place at the Castle. Likewise, the return pilgrimage to the parish of La Almudena, the Brotherhood's headquarters, had to be cancelled.
What the bad weather did not prevent, however, was the Rocío-style fellowship, the Sevillanas dances, and the music of the tambourine and flute, as the City Council lent the covered area of the Guillermo Amor Sports Complex to the Brotherhood to enjoy paella and other delicacies with which they treated guests from Huelva and neighbouring towns.
