Students from Serra Gelada Primary School in Benidorm participated this Thursday in an environmental initiative along the paths and in the pine grove of El Moralet urban park, located near the entrance from Foietes area. Specifically, they took part in a cleanup campaign promoted by Ecovidrio and Paisaje Limpio organisation. This initiative was held in this natural area as a reward for Benidorm receiving the "Green Flag" award this summer, recognising it as the municipality in the Valencian Community that recycled the most glass during June, July, and August.
The councillors for the Environment and Education, Mónica Gómez and Maite Moreno, and the councillor for Parks and Gardens, José Ramón González de Zárate, visited El Moralet this morning to accompany the 120 children who participated in the activity. They thanked the children for their commitment to caring for the environment and emphasised the importance of recycling for environmental protection. They were also accompanied by Manuel Sala, manager of Ecovidrio in the Valencian Community and Murcia.
During the event, the children received a sweatshirt and mini igloos as a memento of their participation in this campaign, along with a reminder to recycle glass. In addition to enjoying a day in nature, the students participated in awareness games that focused on protecting the planet.
The Councillor for the Environment, Mónica Gómez, thanked Ecovidrio, Paisaje Limpio, and the Serra Gelada school for their participation in this initiative and reaffirmed the city's commitment "to continue along this path of sustainability and environmental stewardship, participating in campaigns such as the 'Green Flag' and other initiatives with the same goal."
