Social Welfare opens the enrollment period in the Experience Classrooms
The Department of Social Welfare informs that on Monday, September 24, is the term of enrollment for the Classrooms of Experience (AUNEX), the project included in the Comprehensive Program for Elderly of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche (UMH) aimed at people over 55 years old and that is taught by university professors.
The councilor of the area, Angela Llorca, recalled that this project "was born 19 years ago with the aim of meeting the educational demand and enhance the culture and quality of life of people over 55 years."
Llorca recalled that "the only requirement to access the AUNEX is to overcome that age and no previous studies are required." As in previous editions this project has a quota of 60 seats and the classes will be taught at the social center José Llorca Linares on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
Classes will begin on October 18 and will continue until May 23, 2019. During the academic year 2018/2019 the students will study Emotional Intelligence, Botany, Universal Literature I, Law, Art, Health Biology, and Society and Culture. In addition to these subjects, throughout the course there will be six three-hour seminars on current issues, and various cultural activities such as excursions and visits to museums or exhibitions will be carried out.
The price of the full course is 110 euros -100 euros for enrollment and 10 for insurance-, and there are discounts of 50% and scholarships of 100% thanks to the collaboration of Obra Social La Caixa. The formalization of registration will be made from September 24 to October 4 - or to cover the quota of 60 seats - from Monday to Thursday from 12.00 to 14.00 and on Thursday from 16.30 to 19.00.
