Benidorm commemorates the World Alzheimer's Day 'ConCiencia' Social
With a concentration today at noon at the gates of the City Hall, the reading of the manifesto 'Alzheimer. ConCiencia social 'and the symbolic release of the' Globe of memories', has been commemorated today the World Alzheimer's Day in Benidorm, central activity of the Alzheimer's Week organized by the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer (AFA), with the collaboration of The Department of Social Welfare.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez, together with the head of the Social Welfare area, Ángela Llorca, representatives of the different municipal groups and the local associative movement and family and friends of the sick.
Before reading the manifesto, the mayor pointed out that Alzheimer's is "one of the scourges of humanity in the 21st century" and that "we must all be involved in its struggle and in its investigation". Toni Pérez believes that the slogan 'ConCiencia Social' is accurate, "a reality and a necessity". For this reason, he stressed that from the institutions "we must support everything that is promoted" so that, in the end, "among all of us, we can make society aware of every day that we have to put all the resources at our disposal to combat the Alzheimer's. "
The manifesto read by Garbiñe Mondragón in Benidorm, and also in many other Valencian and Spanish towns, gathers the demands and needs of the group and proposes to the public administrations to consider the disease and other dementias as "a true socio-health priority". After reading, has been released the 'Globe of memories', act in which he participated with Perez, Llorca and Mondragón who was mayor of the city, José Llorca, who suffers from the disease.
During the day today, AFA has installed tables outside in different points of the city and in the Regional Hospital of Marina Baixa. The events of the Alzheimer's Week will continue tomorrow with the 'II solidarity March against oblivion' that will begin at 7:00 pm at Paseo de Tamarindos. The events will end on Sunday with a 'Solidarity meal'.
