The Week of the ONCE Social Group in Alicante installs a mobility circuit in which social associations have participated
The ONCE Social Group presents technologies in Benidorm to facilitate integration
The mayor of Benidorm, Toni Pérez; the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángela Llorca; the vice president of the ONCE Territorial Council in the Valencian Community, Antonio Iborra; and the director of the agency in Benidorm Anabel Morente; have welcomed the people and associations who have gathered since 10:00 am to learn about the latest initiatives of this group in the technological field.
Toni Pérez has valued the "integrating" role of ONCE in Benidorm, which has known how to "create ties" with society and people with diversity And it does so, moreover, without caring "what their condition is".
The mayor has claimed the use of technology "for greater and better integration of people", as has been evidenced in the demonstrations with accessibility services on smartphones that allow them to carry out common tasks, until now impossible for the blind, through voice and touch.
Likewise, the mayor recalled the meeting, in the same place in 2018, of Queen Letizia during the commemoration of the International Day of Deafblind People, many of them "forced to go in a chair, and to be treated in that same chair ”. Citizens for whom any simple action that we do not give importance to ”represents” an enormous effort ”and he has advocated for the disappearance of all those obstacles so that” we all live in normality ”.
Lastly, Toni Pérez recalled the days of the pandemic "which have made us all equal, showing us our weakness" and, therefore, "the need we have to help each other", which is represented by the values of ONCE. The mayor ended by requesting that "these values impregnate us, motivate us and make us better human beings".
At the meeting, ONCE member Alejandro Zacarés exhibited his guide dog, Uren, and another member of the organization, Belén Brao, read a poem. Likewise, adapted technological devices have been shown in the square, such as in the case of smartphones, for people with blindness or functional diversity, which comes to be called typhlotechnology, a technique of which ONCE is a pioneer in our country.
Members of the different groups and associations of Benidorm have not missed the opportunity to get to know these mills and to participate in a new mobility circuit that has also been installed in the square this morning.
The events of the ONCE Social Group Week will continue this afternoon in Benidorm with the theatre performance of 'Romances y coplas de Cordel', by Samaruc Teatre, an inclusive theatre group, at the 'La Torreta' Social Center.
