More than 60 children from local families attend Benidorm’s ‘Easter School’ to help parents balance work and holiday childcare

More than 60 children from local families between the ages of 3 and 12 have been enrolled this year in Benidorm's "Easter School," a program promoted by the Local Association of Parents and Parent Associations (AMPAS) in collaboration with the Department of Education to facilitate work-life balance during the Easter school holidays. This year, the mayor, Toni Pérez, accompanied by the local councilor, Maite Moreno, and the president of the AMPAs (AMPAs) Association, Viviana Ankonetani, visited El Murtal public school this Thursday, where the "Easter School" is taking place, to greet the instructors and children using this service, learn their impressions, and find out how they are spending their time.
Toni Pérez pointed out that "within the municipal resources and services aimed at promoting work-life balance, and as we have been doing during school holiday periods such as the summer holidays, the first week of September, and Christmas, we are once again launching this 'Easter School' to offer families who work during Easter the option of providing their children with a safe space where to enjoy educational and leisure activities in the morning, always accompanied by professionals.
"Precisely, Benidorm's dynamic as a leading tourist destination means that during school holiday periods, certain economic sectors experience peak activity, and the need for work-life balance is more necessary than at other times of the year," the mayor recalled. Therefore, "it is essential to offer families resources so they can achieve work-life balance during these key periods of the year, and, given the response from users, we will continue to work along these lines from the local government."
For her part, the Councillor for Education, Maite Moreno, stated that 63 schoolchildren have enrolled to participate in this Easter School, "the highest number ever." The program began on April 17th and will run until next Monday, the 28th.
The councillor noted that this service "is held each year at an educational centre and is offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., although there is also the option of a 'morning class" starting at 8 a.m. and a lunch service with a Tupperware from home, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m." In both cases, this extended school fee is included in the school's general price, Moreno emphasized, meaning that "we offer a wide range of options to best adapt to the needs of each family."
Likewise, as has been the case for several editions, "places are also offered for children with specific needs, thus reinforcing our commitment to inclusion in all areas and for all ages," concluded the Head of Education.
Finally, Toni Pérez thanked the families "for their trust in this service, which is what drives us to continue organising these kinds of schools," as well as the specialised company Trokoló, which is responsible for managing this service.
